Two men died in separate drowning incidents on Lake Cumberland over the weekend — one in Russell County, one in Pulaski County.
About two hours after Russell County crews pulled a man from the water, responders in Pulaski County located another victim near Pitman Creek.
The coroner’s office says Ricky Turner, 66, of London, jumped from a boat Saturday and never resurfaced. The Somerset?Pulaski County Rescue Squad searched through the evening before suspending operations overnight. Turner’s body was found around noon Sunday. His death is being investigated as a possible drowning.
In the earlier incident, Andy W. Schmidt, 42, of Lexington, was recovered by Russell County Search and Rescue and confirmed to have drowned. Toxicology results are pending.
Authorities say the two incidents do not appear to be related.
